Tonight at bedtime we had the following conversation:
Jack: Mama? Whose belly did Henry and David come out of?
Me: My belly.
Jack: And whose belly did I come out of?
Me: My belly.
Jack: And whose belly did Katie Roof come out of?
Me: Her first mama.
David: Do you think that her first mama and dada were sad that they couldn't take care of her?
Me: I do. And I think that they hoped that someone else could take care of her for them.
David: Like us?
Me: Yes. I think they wanted someone to love her and take care of her forever.
Henry: In a family. That's what a family does.
Me: That's exactly right buddy.
David: Do you think it's weird that I can love her like she grew in your belly even when she didn't? Because I do.
Me: No, I don't think that's weird at all.
Henry: DAVID! That's because she's our family. That's what a family does - love each other.
My work here might be done.
This literally took my breath away...as I was reading it I could tell I wasn't even breathing. Precious, precious!

Out of the mouths of babes...She is going to be spoiled by those boys.
ReplyDeletePriceless!! To teach them the love of a family and to teach them to love the Lord, that is what we are here for as parents!!
ReplyDeleteOh my word. So, so precious. :)
ReplyDeleteEvery time I read your blog I cry, lately! Tears of joy, of course! Your boys are so sweet. <3
